Felines for Seniors Care Program

We are ecstatic to offer two comprehensive daily cat care plans for seniors in assisted living, memory care, or who live at home and need additional help. We want owners and their beloved cat companions to remain together through all stages of life.

What are the health benefits of cat ownership?

The unconditional love and companionship our four-legged family members provide enhances our well-being and quality of life. Multiple scientific studies have shown companion pets can reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, which are common in older adults. Interacting with cats - whether it is through petting, playing, or simply observing their behavior - can have a calming effect and decrease stress levels. According to the American Heart Association, pet ownership has also been shown to have a positive impact on cardiovascular health by lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart disease.

Although our principal aim is to provide cat care services, it is critical for seniors to remain engaged in the care of their own pets. Doing so keeps them feeling connected to their pets and eases interaction with us. We want clients to have a clear understanding of what is going on with their cats’ health so they feel both supported and empowered to make decisions that offer the best care to their cats at this stage in their lives. The two care plans we offer are named in honor of Callie’s grandmother Betty and her beloved cat Chica who was rehomed when Betty entered assisted living. Callie also recently became a Certified Dementia Practitioner to create meaningful connections with clients.
